In my math class, we are split into different groups. The groups' names come from the combination of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones houses. The four groups are: Targaryen/Slytherin, Stark/Hufflepuff, Lannister/Gryffindor, and Baratheon/Ravenclaw. I'm in Baratheon/Ravenclaw. Based on quizzes and homework and answers to questions, we get points. Last quarter, my group won, and we got t-shirts as prizes. They're really cool, they are combined colors, slogans, and pictures of both our houses.
Today, half the people were missing. So instead of going over the homework, we were combined into two groups (T/S and B/R, S/H and L/G), and played a quiz game for points.
Mr. Phillips started with, "What is the phrase for the house of Stark?" It was directed to the other team. I turned to them and said, "If you don't get this, that's a little sad." ^_^ I was joking because one of their teams was made up of Stark. They didn't get it, but I knew it, so my team got a point! Everyone was happy that I knew it. It made me feel good to know that I actually knew something.
The next few questions were similar: What was one of the descriptions for Hufflepuff, one description of Slytherin (my team got both of those), animal symbol for Gryffindor (other team), 2 animals for Ravenclaw (we got raven, not eagle), animal symbol for Stark (I got that, but Joel knew it too), and animal for Targaryen (Joel and I both knew it to be dragon, but I got us the point with 3-headed dragon).
And then Mr. Phillips went to sci-fi. "What does the acronym TARDIS stand for?" No one in my group knew. I laughed because I knew that he knew I knew, and raised my hand. Of course I know, I've watched all of Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. ^_^ And then he asked, "What is the name of the ship in Serenity?" I was a little confuzzled, because I've only seen the series and the end of the movie. I didn't know if there was a different ship, or if he was just trying to confuzzle me. Well, if he was, it worked. ^_^ Since the other team didn't know, I got to answer, and got us another point. My team was cheering for me, it was nice. :) We won with I think 15 points, and the others got I think 8 1/2?
It was really fun and made me feel useful. I hope we do it again soon.
